Local Energy, Local Impact

At Nadara, sustainability means creating value for all our stakeholders through the generation of renewable energy, minimising our impact on the environment and leaving society in a better place.  As part of our community engagement programme, every year we run a Call for Projects – an annual opportunity for communities based around our renewable energy sites to benefit from additional support for local initiatives.

Our Call for Projects 2025 “Local Energy, Local Impact” is aimed at supporting local projects in the communities around our UK wind farms that will deliver positive impact in the areas of environmental sustainability, social sustainability or both.

Do you or a group in your area have an idea for an initiative that will provide tangible benefits to your community? Tell us about it for the chance to receive up to £10,000 to deliver community-led actions that address sustainability issues that matter to your community.

We are looking for innovative projects from a wide range of topics that:

  1. Are linked to environmental and/or social sustainability
  2. Can deliver positive impact and tangible benefits to your community
  3. Will be up and running in 2026.

How to apply

Each local community associated with our renewable energy plants can enter up to two different projects using the form above. The projects can be run by other organisations in your area, please feel free to share the details with anyone you think might be interested. Eligible projects must:

  • Be located within the geographical area hosting one of our operational renewable energy plants (or a plant that is going to be operational soon)
  • Be up and running in 2026
  • Be supported by the local community
  • Be relevant to environmental and/or social sustainability
  • Deliver tangible benefits to the local community
  • Be able to be evaluated to demonstrate they have achieved their objectives.

Successful projects will be selected based on how well they meet the criteria above. Priority will be given to those that demonstrate the highest positive impact to the local community, society and/or the environment. Benefits can be short, medium or long-term, with preference for those projects that can unlock long-lasting impact or long-term gain.

Ideally, projects must be submitted and delivered by a not-for-profit organisation. If this is not possible due to the nature of your community, please contact us.

Up to 80% of the total cost of successful projects (i.e. up to £10,000) will be covered by Nadara. Please outline in your application how you intend to provide the 20% of matched funding.

If you need any more information on how to enter your project, please contact

[email protected]

Please note that the successful applicants will be asked to provide information on a regular basis that will allow us to demonstrate the importance of providing extra support for the local communities:

  • An overview of the actions taken.
  • Case studies and pictures showing how the funding is helping the local community in practical ways on social or environmental sustainability matters.
  • Any results achieved by the project.
