For the sixth year in a row, Ventient Energy has been recognised with a 5-star rating and Sector Leader status in the GRESB Infrastructure Assessment awards, achieving the top ranking for the Renewable Power: Wind Power Generation sector.

The award is a testament to the hard work put in by the Ventient team in creating and delivering upon our ESG strategy, which serves as the foundation upon which Ventient builds its operations, actions, and decisions.

2023 has seen the development of those foundations, with the new ESG pillars of Sustainability, People, Process, and Evolution mapped around the company values, informed by materiality analysis and backed up by external advisors.

Ventient’s ESG Manager, Holly Backhurst, commented, “Every year Ventient strives to reduce the negative impacts of our operations, and leave people and the planet in a better place wherever possible. Embedding our values and ESG pillars across everything we do is only made possible with the collaboration of everyone in Ventient, and this translates into the GRESB results we are seeing year on year. This is a fantastic result that we can all be proud of.”

The significance of GRESB

The GRESB Assessments are guided by what investors and the industry consider to be material issues in the sustainability performance of asset investments and are aligned with international reporting frameworks, goals, and emerging regulations. The GRESB ESG Benchmark grew this year to cover more than USD 8.8 trillion of gross asset value, encompassing 2,084 real estate entities, 687 infrastructure assets and 172 infrastructure funds, and the growth in participation serves as a clear testament to the infrastructure industry’s steadfast commitment to ESG transparency and sustainability.

Sebastien Roussotte, CEO of GRESB said, “Reviewing the benchmarks for this year, it’s evident that the industry’s dedication to ESG principles is stronger than ever, as showcased by the continued increase in participation and broader data coverage. We applaud investors and managers in the real assets sector for their resolute pursuit of sustainability.”

On a mission, together

For Ventient, ESG is a journey. From our first GRESB participation in 2018, we have been moving forward in line with our mission of pursuing sustainable growth, integrating diverse expertise and technologies to lead the energy transition, and caring for those who invest their future in our vision. There is still work to be done to continuously strengthen our ESG commitment, but the journey will continue thanks to the support of our stakeholders inside and outside the company.
