Finley Becks-Phelps, UK Head of Development at Nadara, has been elected to the board of RenewableUK, the trade association representing close to 500 companies across the UK's renewable energy sector.

Finley joins seven fellow 2026 appointees all voted in by member companies from across the industry, with the new board taking effect from September.

The news follows his recent appointment as Vice-Chair of Scottish Renewables, where he supports Chair Susie Lind and works across the organisation's membership on the priorities shaping Scotland's renewable energy future.

At Nadara, Finley leads UK development, overseeing a portfolio that spans operational assets and a significant pipeline of projects across the country. His focus includes repowering — upgrading older wind farms to extend their life, increase their output and continue delivering shared value to the communities that have hosted them for decades.

Repowering is one of the most important levers available to the UK as it works toward its 2030 renewable energy targets, and Finley has been one of its most visible advocates. Earlier this year, he gave evidence to the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee as part of its inquiry into unlocking community energy at scale, sharing Nadara's experience in project development, grid connection and the delivery of community benefit.

UK’s enormous potential

Nadara has a long history of engagement at the highest levels of UK renewable energy policy. We actively supported the Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce Executive Committee in its work, which culminated in the UK Government's first ever Onshore Wind Strategy in July 2025 — setting out more than 40 actions to accelerate deployment toward 29GW by 2030.

As a developer, owner and operator with assets spanning a wide range of ages, our colleagues bring a perspective that covers the full arc of a renewable energy project — from origination and construction through to long-term operation and repowering. That breadth has shaped the company's contribution to industry bodies and government alike.

Commenting on his election, Finley said:

Having spent the past four years on the board of Scottish Renewables, I have come to understand just how fundamental our trade bodies are to the success of the whole sector. That’s what drew me to joining RenewableUK's board: to help support their work with government, to make sure that the UK's enormous potential for renewable energy is realised, and to keep communities at the centre of how we deliver it.

I also want to say a huge well done to all the appointees. It’s genuinely inspiring to see so many people willing to go above and beyond their day-to-day roles to push our industry forward. I look forward to working alongside you.
