Galawhistle Wind Farm is located approximately 7km east of Muirkirk in East Ayrshire and 5km west of Douglas in South Lanarkshire.
The wind farm has been operational since 2017 and consists of 22 turbines with a maximum blade tip height at 122m to tip. The project currently delivers up to 66MW of renewable electricity.
Galawhistle Extension
We are exploring the potential to extend Galawhistle Wind Farm by up to 5 additional turbines up to 200m to tip. This could deliver an additional 36MW of renewable electricity - capable of powering an additional 29,704 UK homes, strengthening the UK’s energy security and contributing to our green power future.
Project Proposal:
- Up to 5 additional turbines
- Up to 200m tip height
- 36MW additional capacity

Local Impact
Galawhistle Wind Farm has been operating since 2017. In that time it has delivered a range of local opportunities for the regional supply chain and the community.
Community Benefit
Since becoming operational in 2017, Galawhistle Wind Farm has supported local communities and the regional supply chain.
If consented the extension could deliver up to an additional £180,000 community benefit per annum to the existing Community Benefit Funds.
We want to understand how the extension can best support local priorities.
Community ownership
We want to work with the local community and explore the potential to provide community ownership.
At several of our wind farms we have co-operatives which enable people to buy a stake in their local wind farm.

Supply chain
We want to hear from local businesses that could be involved in the project should it be approved. If you are a local company and would like to register your interest visit nadara.com/our-suppliers.
